    Its turning out to be one memorable April for young Karan Pratap Singh. The 22-year-old from Faridabad prevailed in a tight finish to claim his maiden victory at the Rs. 1 crore TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2023 presented by Chandigarh Golf Club on Saturday.

    The in-form Karan Pratap’s win followed his career-best runner-up finish in Noida last week where he had lost in a playoff.

    Karan (70-70-68-70), lying two shots off the lead in second place at the start of the day, posted a resolute two-under 70 on day four to tally 10-under 278 for the week that kept his nearest rivals at bay and helped him triumph by one shot.

    Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain maintained his two-shot lead after signing for a steady three-under 69 in round three of the Rs. 1 crore TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2023 presented by Chandigarh Golf Club.

    Dhaka lad Jamal (70-67-69), the overnight leader by two shots, was thus well-placed for a shot at his fourth PGTI title as his total moved to 10-under 206.

    Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain seized the halfway lead after returning the second day’s best score of five-under 67 at the Rs. 1 crore TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2023 presented by Chandigarh Golf Club.

    Dhaka-based Jamal’s (70-67) total read seven-under 137 and he enjoyed a two-shot lead over the quartet comprising Greater Noida’s Arjun Sharma (68), Kolkata’s Mohammad Sanju (71), Chandigarh’s Harendra Gupta (70) and American Varun Chopra (71).

    The TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship 2023 presented by Chandigarh Golf Club will be played from April 12 – 15 at the Chandigarh Golf Club. The tournament carries a prize purse of Rs. 1 crore. The Pro-Am event will be staged on April 11.

    The field of 126 players includes 123 professionals and three amateurs. The leading Indian professionals in the fray are Udayan Mane, defending champion Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, TATA Steel PGTI Rankings leader Om Prakash Chouhan, Sachin Baisoya and Gaurav Pratap Singh, to name a few.
