Sri Lankan Mithun Perera put up a resilient display to come through in a thriller in the final round and lift the trophy at the inaugural ICC RCGC Open Golf Championship Powered by Bharat Benz, a TATA Steel PGTI event, played at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC).
Perera, who lifted his seventh title on Sunday, carded an eventful but resolute even-par-72 in the last round to emerge winner by one stroke at eight-under-280 at the Rs. 40 lakh event. Mithun’s prize money cheque of Rs. 6,46,600 catapulted him from 26th to 14th position in the TATA Steel PGTI Order of Merit.

Delhi’s Kapil Kumar, who fired a sedate even-par-72 on Saturday, continued on top of the leaderboard for the third day in succession as he shared the lead with Perera at eight-under-208 at the Rs. 40 lakh event.

Delhi’s Kapil Kumar kept his lead for the second day running with a rollercoaster four-under-68 at the ICC RCGC Open Golf Championship 2019 Powered by Bharat Benz, a TATA Steel PGTI event, being played at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC).
Kapil, searching for his maiden title, totaled eight-under-136 to be the halfway leader by one shot at the Rs. 40 lakh event.
Mumbai’s Anil Bajrang Mane (68) moved up one spot to second at seven-under-137 while Bengaluru’s M Dharma was the big gainer moving up 24 spots to third position at six-under-138 as a result of his tournament-best score of seven-under-65.
