Arjun Atwal & Anirban Lahiri off to steady starts at Asia-Pacific Open Golf Championship
Arjun Atwal was the best-placed Indian after round one of the Asia-Pacific Open Golf Championship. Atwal fired a two-under-69 to be three off the lead in tied seventh place. Australian Cameron Smith was the round one leader at five-under-66.
“It was really unexpected as I didn’t really play that well in Malaysia last week. But today was really solid as I hit lots of fairways and greens. It wasn’t easy as it was raining and it was windy at times but overall it was still a good solid round,” said Atwal.
The 41-year-old has enjoyed seven career victories on the Asian Tour and is also a one-time Asian Tour Order of Merit champion.
Anirban Lahiri was also off to a decent start as he returned a one-under-70 to be tied 16th.
Rahil Gangjee and SSP Chowrasia were in tied 30th at even-par-71. Jyoti Randhawa was in tied 61st at two-over-73.
Digvijay Singh (76) was tied 104th while Rashid Khan (78) was tied 122nd.
