Lahiri tied fourth at Yeangder TPC, Rashid secures tied eighth

India’s Anirban Lahiri (73-66-68-73) finished tied for fourth on eight-under-280 at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC), a US$500,000 Asian Tour event, on Sunday. Lahiri finished three shots behind the eventual winner Prom Meesawat of Thailand.

Meesawat and Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines had ended the regulation 72 holes with matching scores of 11-under-277. Meesawat finally outclassed Tabuena on the second extra hole to capture a long-awaited second Asian Tour title.

Anirban, ranked second on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, struggled due to fatigue as he registered a disappointing 73 after mixing his card with four birdies and five bogeys at the Linkou International Golf and Country Club. This was Lahiri’s fourth top-10 of the 2014 Asian Tour season. Swede Daniel Chopra also joined Lahiri in tied fourth place.

“It was a mixed week – good and bad. I was nowhere near my A-Game or even my B-Game. I made a lot of mistakes but it is still a good week. I really feel that another win is really close. I just need to keep doing what I’ve been doing,” said Lahiri, who finished tied 13th in Switzerland last week.

Rashid Khan (71-70-72-71) shot a 71 in the final round to gain eight places from his overnight tied 16th and finish tied eighth. This was Rashid’s third top-10 of the 2014 Asian Tour season. The result moved him up from 10th to ninth position on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Jyoti Randhawa and Rahil Gangjee were in tied 31st place at one-over-289. Chiragh Kumar finished tied 44th at three-over-291.
