Siddikur jumps to second place at Queen's Cup, Jaini is tied seventh

A fast-charging Siddikur Rahman (68-70-64) of Bangladesh was just one shot behind the leader Poom Saksansin of Thailand after the third round of the Queen’s Cup on Saturday. Siddikur fired a stunning 64 with seven birdies as he moved into contention for a third Asian Tour victory as his total stood at 11-under- 202.

Manav Jaini (68-72-69) at tied seventh was the highest-placed Indian. His three-day total was four-under-209.

After six straight pars, Siddikur produced the fireworks at Santiburi Samui, a course where he has enjoyed three top-10s, as he narrowed his overnight five-shot deficit on Poom to one.

“It was really a great round. I’m really happy, especially with my putting which I got back. My hitting was excellent, overall it was very good,” enthused Siddikur, who needed only 25 putts.

He added, “I practiced more on my putting after yesterday’s round. I think that helped me a lot as I got my feel back. I’m in good form, I feel confident. This is one of my favourite places in Asia. I’m confident and looking forward to tomorrow.”

Manav Jaini, the only Indian in the top-10, posted a two-under-69 on Saturday that included eight birdies, two bogeys and two double-bogeys. He is now in position to record one of his best finishes outside India.

Rahil Gangjee (two-uner-211) and Jyoti Randhawa (one-under-212) both shot scores of three-under-68 in round three to be placed tied 13th and tied 15th respectively.

Current Order of Merit leader Anirban Lahiri carded a 70 for tied 20th place at even-par-213.

Shankar Das slipped from overnight tied ninth to tied 36th after a round of 76 that took his total to three-over-216.
