Chikkarangappa’s inspiring 67 raises his hopes for an Asian Tour card

India’s Chikkarangappa S raised his Asian Tour card hopes with an inspiring four-under-67 in round three of the 2014 Asian Tour Qualifying School Final Stage. Chikkarangappa ended the day in tied 24th place at five-under-209, seven strokes behind the leader Nathan Holman of Australia. Khalin Joshi, the other Indian in the fray, posted a three-over-74 to be placed tied 70th.
The top-40 and ties will earn an Asian Tour card for the 2014 season after the final round on Saturday.
Chikkarangappa (69-73-67) sank five birdies against a lone bogey in his third round of 67. The Bangalorean playing his second season as a professional thus leapfrogged from overnight tied 71st to tied 24th and gave himself a chance of qualifying for the continental tour. He had earlier managed to make the halfway cut by one shot on Thursday.
Khalin Joshi (74-67-74), who also hails from Bangalore, slipped from overnight tied 54th to tied 70th as a result of his 74 in round three that pushed his total to one-over-215.
PGTI member Kunal Bhasin (68-68-74) of Australia posted a 74 to drop from joint sixth to tied 31st place at four-under-210.
