Sujjan Singh tied fifth after round 1 of Final Stage
Sujjan Singh fired a four-under-68 to be the best-placed Indian after round one of the Final Stage of Asian Tour’s Qualifying School for 2014. Sujjan lies tied fifth at the close of round one. Sujjan made five birdies and a bogey on Wednesday. Nathan Holman of Australia was the leader with a score of 63.
A total of 238 players teed off in the all-important Final Stage where the top-40 and ties will earn an Asian Tour card for the 2014 season. The first two rounds of the Final Stage will be held at Imperial Lakeview and Springfield Royal. After two days, the top-80 and ties will progress to the final two rounds which will be played at Springfield Royal.
There are a total of 13 Indians in the fray at the Qualifying School Final Stage.
Chikkarangappa S returned a three-under-69 to lie tied 17th. Kapil Kumar’s two-under-69 meant he occupied tied 32nd place. Shubhankar Sharma joined Kapil in tied 32nd with a two-under-70.
Angad Cheema is in tied 54th position at one-under followed by Ajeetesh Sandhu in joint 82nd at even-par.
Abhinav Lohan, Karan Taunk and Shankar Das are all in tied 110th position with scores of one-over.
Khalin Joshi (two-over) in tied 132nd, Vikrant Chopra (three-over) at joint 164th, Honey Baisoya (five-over) in tied 203rd and Abhijit Singh Chadha (six-over) at tied 213th are the other Indians in the field.
