Shiv Kapur and SSP Chawrasia shot scores of four-under 67 to be placed tied second after round one of the Asian Tour's International Series England.
Viraj Madappa struck a three-under 68 to be tied eighth.
Chinese Taipei's Chang Wei-lun led the field with a six-under 65 at the event being played at the Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, near Newcastle in England.
