Rahil Gangjee registers season-best tied 11th finish at Golf Partner Pro-Am Tournament in Japan

Rahil Gangjee capped his week at the Golf Partner Pro-Am Tournament in Ibaraki, Japan, with a spectacular five-under-65 in the final round. Gangjee, who finished tied 11th with a total of 17-under-263, thus registered the best result of his season on the Japan Golf Tour.

Rahil, playing his sixth event in Japan this year, shot scores of 65, 67, 66 and 65, to be placed inside the top-15 through the week at the Toride Kokusai Golf Club. He made six birdies and a bogey in his final round on Sunday.

Gangjee is currently ranked 61st in the Japan Golf Tour's Order of Merit. He will next be seen in action during next week's Gate Way to The Open Mizuno Open in Okayama.

Rahil Gangjee's good friend Shaun Norris of South Africa won the event after defeating Japan's Tomoharu Otsuki and Zimbabwe's Scott Vincent in a three-way playoff after they were all tied at 21-under-259 at the end of regulation play.

In an interesting twist, Norris, who was without his caddie this week and pushed his electric cart himself, then received an offer from Gangjee’s caddie, Raghu, for the playoff. Norris, whose regular caddie, his younger brother, had fallen ill this week, took the offer and won on the second playoff hole. It was Norris' fifth win on the Japan Golf Tour.

“I wish my brother was here with me to celebrate,” said Shaun, who also appreciated the offer by Gangjee’s caddie to carry the bag for the playoff. “My good friend Rahil Gangjee’s caddie offered to carry for me. I want to invite him to dinner later.”
