Ajeetesh Sandhu takes a share of eighth at Indonesian Masters; Twelve Indians finish inside top-61 of Asian Tour Order of Merit, seal their cards for the 2018 season

Ajeetesh Sandhu of India finished as the highest-placed Indian at the Asian Tour’s season-ending Indonesian Masters after firing a final round of five-under-67 that moved his total to 14-under-274.  Sandhu thus jumped eight spots from his third round position of tied 16th to tied eighth place.

Ajeetesh, a winner on the Asian Tour in 2017, birdied three of the last four holes on Sunday to finish as the only Indian in the top-10. The tournament was won by England’s Justin Rose who triumphed by eight shots with a staggering 29-under-259 total.
 
Shubhankar Sharma took tied 11th place at 12-under-276 while Gaganjeet Bhullar was a further shot back in tied 13th.

Shiv Kapur and Chikkarangappa were both tied 20th at nine-under-279.

Chikkarangappa slipped 13 places to tied 20th after a 75 in the final round but still managed to finish 61st on the Asian Tour Order of Merit to become the last player to seal his card for next year.

Among the other Indians who made the cut in Jakarta, Jyoti Randhawa closed the week in tied 51st at two-under-286, Honey Baisoya was tied 59th at even-par-288 and Rashid Khan was tied 69th at three-over-291.

A total of 12 Indians finished inside the top-61 of the 2017 Asian Tour Order of Merit to seal their cards for the 2018 season.

The 12 Indians in the top-61 were SSP Chawrasia (5th), Shubhankar Sharma (7th), Shiv Kapur (10th), Gaganjeet Bhullar (15th), Ajeetesh Sandhu (21st), Arjun Atwal (25th), Rashid Khan (39th), Chiragh Kumar (41st), Khalin Joshi (52nd), Jyoti Randhawa (53rd), Rahil Gangjee (60th) and Chikkarangappa (61st).

As per the country-wise break-up, India was second after Thailand in the number of players finishing inside the top-61. Thailand had 13 players, one more than India, in the top-61.
