Lahiri in joint second going into the final round of Yeangder TPC

Gangjee, Rashid and Chiragh in top-20

India’s Anirban Lahiri (73-66-68) lies tied second, one behind leader Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines, after round three of the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC), a US$500,000 Asian Tour event. Lahiri shares second place with Thai veteran Thaworn Wiratchant at nine-under-207.

Home hero Yeh Wei-tze is in joint fourth place along with Prom Meesawat of Thailand and two-time PGA Tour winner Daniel Chopra of Sweden on a 208 total.

A tired Lahiri, currently placed second on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, struggled in the closing stages after feeling the effects of jetlag. He posted six birdies and one bogey after 13 holes but lost momentum when he bogeyed hole no. 16.

“I came in on Tuesday afternoon from Switzerland so I had trouble sleeping. I probably had 15 hours of sleep in four days. I felt the heat on the back nine today and felt a bit low on energy. I’m going to go back, rest up and come stronger tomorrow,” said the Indian, who climbed two places from his overnight tied fourth position.

Rahil Gangjee (212), Rashid Khan (213) and Chiragh Kumar (214) were the other three Indians in the top-20 after round three.

Gangjee fired a 69 on day three to climb from tied 26th to tied 13th, while Rashid’s 72 saw him drop from tied 13th to tied 16th. Chiragh posted a 69 to move up from overnight tied 45th to tied 20th place.

Jyoti Randhawa ended the day in tied 46th at one-over-217.
