Vishal Singh and Bikramjit Singh Sandhu are joint round one leaders in Jaipur

Jaipur’s Vishal Singh and Bangalore’s Bikramjit Singh Sandhu returned scores of four-under-66 to be the joint leaders in the first round of the PGTI Feeder Tour event being played at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur. Rahul Bajaj of Noida was in third place with a score of three-under-67.

Local lad Vishal Singh, a winner on the PGTI, mixed seven birdies with three bogeys in the opening round to take the early advantage.

Vishal said, “I hit my irons well. I capitalized on the par-5 holes with birdies on three of the four par-5s. However, I missed some crucial chip-putts today. One of my best birdies in round one came on the 17th where I made an up and down from the bunker. The course conditions are excellent and the greens are rolling well. It’s a great start to the tournament and I’ll look to use the local knowledge to my advantage.”

Bikramjit Singh Sandhu came up with five birdies against a lone bogey on Wednesday to set the pace along with Vishal.

Bikramjit said, “I was solid through the day. I missed a hole-in-one by a whisker on the 16th where the ball was just two rolls short of the cup. I’ve not had a good season so far so it’s important for me to do well here. A good performance this week will give me the much-needed confidence.”

Rahul Bajaj, a winner on the Feeder Tour, was one stroke off the lead in third place. His round included four birdies and a bogey.

Lucknow’s Bhoop Singh and Suleman Ali of Delhi were a further shot back in joint fourth position.
